Yoga for Internal Organs with Sri Ramaswami

We are thrilled and honoured to be hosting Srivatsa Ramaswami online from April 11-14th, 2024! Please join us for this rare and precious opportunity to learn directly from this authentic and humble master yogi and teacher.

He is one of the longest-standing students of the legendary father of modern yoga, Krishnamacharya. Ramaswami will share his gentle nature, wisdom, and insights into this foundational ancient text; this will surely be a fascinating and enlightening treat!

Pranayama and Yoga for the Internal Organs:

षाट्कौशिकं शरीरं हि गद्यते मुनिभिः स्फुटम्।

श्वाशकोशान्नकोशौ तथा मूत्रमलात्मकौ ॥

रजो वीर्यात्मकौ चेति षोढा कोशस्य संस्थितिः॥

प्राणायामात्कोशशुद्धिः कोशशुद्धेर्वपुस्सदा ।

सेन्द्रियं शुद्धमेव स्याच्छुद्धाहारस्य योगिनः॥

The above quote is from Sri T Krishnamacharya's Yoga Rahasya. Sages clearly talk about the six kosas (sacs) in human body. They are breathing bag (lungs), food bag (stomach) then urine bag or bladder (kidneys), and that containing feces. Then are the bags with blood (uterus) sperm (and the heart bag or hrudaya kosa). These are the six kosas. These kosas are kept clean with pranayama (and the mudras in appropriate asanas). With healthy kosas the body is kept clean and healthy. The 10 indriyas are also helped to maintain good functioning aided by proper food.

In this program the yogic procedures like asanas, many pranayamas, mudras will be discussed with demonstrations wherever necessary. Sri Krishnamachaya was a great healer and understanding the efficacy of yogic procedures taught by him to maintain the health of the heart and the circulatory system (rakta sanchara), lungs and the respiratory system, stomach and the digestive system, uterus and the reproductive system, bladder/kidneys and the urinary system and the excretory system will be covered. Many pranayama methods including mantra pranayama will be discussed and practised.

April 11-14th: Sri Ramaswami will teach from 5:30-7:30 am PST each day. As an additional offering, Ryan Leier will guide a two-hour traditional Vinyasa Krama class (as he learned it from Ramaswami) from 8:30-10:30 am PST following each of Ramaswami's classes. These hours can be used for continuing education hours with YA.
